Photo AlbumShot Glasses #446 to #484Mar 7, '07 7:42 PM
for everyone
Well, it's been a little over a year and a half since I last posted additions to my shot glass collection (which, not coincidentally, is a little more than Charlie's age). A little over a month ago I started gradually taking the pictures, uploading to Multiply, and adding comments. Phew. Going forward I must do a better job doing that as I get them.

For those not aware, I've been casually collecting shot glasses for about 15 years now. I say casually because a majority of the collection at this point has probably been "donated" from friends and family. People sending me glasses in this update include G.J., Kayt, Babs, Jodi, Andre', Pez, Balazs, and Vilius.

THANKS EVERYONE.

(Where possible I tried linking to the appropriate photo album on Multiply but in many cases I couldn't figure it out so please help me.)

The complete list of 484 is here.

Holy moly -- you know, I have a shotglass from Istanbul around here for you. I know I bought it. I just have NO idea where I might have put it.

Where in the heck do you keep 484 shot glasses? I hope you have a big display cabinet!

Well, about 400 are still packed in boxes from when we moved from FL to NJ 2 years ago. The newer ones have filled up the windows sills and are now taking over my desk in my home-office.

I've been meaning to build a display case (or cases) for about two years. I actually started construction last weekend.

Excellent Everett! Yeah, the reason I started building last weekend is because Charlie is about 1/2" away from reaching the ones I have out in my office.

I think the best way to display them would be on top of a bar...or table...and not empty.

I wouldn't want to be the person dusting the collection!

That's hilarious! It actually looks like one of those pictures you see that are e-mailed around of kids.

Shot glass? What shot glass? It's a tooth-pick holder.

Thanks. Good question. I actually had a collection before I started collecting. You know...everybody has 2 or 3 or 5 random glasses on a shelf or in a draw somewhere. One day I had about a dozen and thought it would be a fun thing to collect.

While I'm not 100% positive which is the first, I'd bet it's one of my two shot glasses that has the crest of my college fraternity, "Phi Kappa Theta", on it. In one the crest is in color. The other it's just black (on clear glass). In my fraternity house there were lots of these around and they were more for functional purposes than show-pieces. I kept a couple after I graduated and don't recall owning any glasses prior to those.
