When most think about who's in charge of Microsoft, it's Bill Gates that comes to mind. But much of Microsoft's no-holds-barred business strategy comes from Steve Ballmer, Microsoft's CEO and Gate's long-time friend.

Although the book does go into more personal background and depth on Ballmer, it is primarily a study of Microsoft, or more specifically, their monopolistic business practices. Anybody who has heard somebody say something like "Microsoft is evil" should pick up this book as the author has done a great job making that case. The book is rife with quotes and testimonies from former Microsoft employees, competitors, and journalists so even if you feel the author isn't being objective, he's certainly not presenting a lone opinion.

Having used Microsoft products from the original MS-DOS through the current versions of Office and XP, and in most cases against my will or simply by default, I found this in-depth behind-the-scenes background of how Ballmer brilliantly but ruthlessly helped Microsoft gain this stranglehold on me and billions others very entertaining.
